Each student-learner will be required to write an assessment of a professional (workplace) negotiation process in which they are or have been an active participant. The topic of the negotiation that you assess must be approved by me before you begin the paper. The assessment should include the context of the situation, an overview of the facts, the key parties and roles, a synopsis and evaluation of the process, and a plan for future improvement. The synopsis and evaluation should describe what happened during the negotiation, what the author feels that s/he did well, what s/he could have done differently, what s/he learned from her/his own performance and that of the other party. The paper is intended to give students an opportunity to apply the concepts presented in class sessions and the assigned reading to a real-life negotiation in which they were a party. The contents of each paper will be treated as confidential. I will be the only person to read each paper. If you wish to change or disguise the names of the other parties to the negotiation, feel free to do so. The articles by Moovius and Susskind or Wheeler serve as useful frameworks for this assignment. Reference to either of those checklist approaches is welcome, but not required. Be sure to clearly describe the outcome of your negotiation. Papers must be 8 – 12 pages in length, typed, paginated, and double-spaced. Papers must be submitted by e-mail as a Word document
