Determine whether the goal is specific. Can you answer the questions: Who, What, Why and How?
Identified XYZ delivery schedule as the process that needs to be streamlined.
Minimize losses due to “wait time” in delivery schedules, where delivery times are affected due to avoidable delays in process.
Chalk out strategies to minimize wait time, using LEAN methods.
Identify the standard that will determine successful completion
The target is an increased profit margin of 1%.
Increase will be a result of cost savings. The actual amount of cost savings required needs to be calculated.
Determine whether the goal is achievable.
Validated that the targeted increase of 1% is achievable.
Need team for support, as well as access to relevant data.
Identify the desired result, specifying what you want to achieve
Increase my division’s profit margins.
Identify the time-frame within which you should achieve results
Results within six months.
Data need to be analyzed frequently, to track progress and fine tune the process, if required.
